Exciting News: Our Experts Lead the Charge in Digital Education Innovation!

We are proud to announce that Arjana Blažić from Suradnici u učenju and All Digital, both integral parts of our project consortium, have been selected as members of the newly established Commission Expert Group for Digital Education Content. This expert group is tasked with developing guidelines and quality requirements for accessible, well-designed, high-quality digital education content.

The group will closely cooperate with EU countries and various stakeholders to address the challenges faced by digital education content in Europe. A recent study in September 2023 highlighted several issues, such as fragmentation and uncertainty about quality, which lead to confusion and hesitation among teachers, learners, authorities, and publishers when using digital education materials. Additionally, the advent of new technologies like artificial intelligence has introduced new concerns.

Recognizing these challenges, the Council recommended in November 2023 that EU countries and stakeholders collaborate to create guidelines aimed at improving the quality, safety, trustworthiness, and inclusiveness of digital education content. The Council Recommendation on the key enabling factors for successful digital education and training, adopted in November 2023, underscores the importance of such collaboration. It highlights the need to support the development of guidelines and quality requirements for accessible, well-designed, and high-quality digital education content, in cooperation with Member States and stakeholders.

The primary goals of the expert group include:

  1. Assisting the Commission: Providing support for the implementation of existing Union legislation, programs, and policies related to digital education content.
  2. Coordination with Member States: Facilitating the exchange of views and coordination among EU countries.
  3. Establishing a Common Vocabulary: Developing a shared understanding and transparent terminology for digital education content among stakeholders and Member States.
  4. Developing Assessment Criteria: Creating criteria to help Member States systematically assess the quality of digital education content in terms of utility, trustworthiness, accessibility, interoperability, sustainability, and other relevant dimensions.
  5. Creating Guidelines: Formulating guidelines to help stakeholders apply quality criteria in the creation, selection, use, and evaluation of digital education content, while also promoting digital literacy and skills necessary for designing and using digital education materials.

Members of the Commission Expert Group for Digital Education Content were selected through a call for applications, with the final list of members published in the Register. The group includes individual experts appointed in their capacity (type A), organizations (type C), and other public entities (type E).

Arjana Blažić and All Digital’s involvement in this expert group signifies a significant step towards enhancing the quality and accessibility of digital education content across Europe. Their expertise and collaborative efforts will be crucial in developing comprehensive guidelines that will benefit educators, learners, and stakeholders in the digital education ecosystem.
