DIGITAL FIRST Podcasts

During the project, our partners will host six podcast episodes to carry out inspiring conversations with teachers, education providers, parents, policymakers and NGOs on the status of informatics education and exchange innovative approaches to make it more engaging and relevant to today’s society.

In this first episode of our podcast series, our host Petra Bevek from the Digital Education Service of the Ministry of Education Slovenia welcomes two guests for a conversation on teaching informatics and advocating for a new education in Europe:

  • Uroš Ocepek, an awarded secondary school teacher specialised in computer science from Slovenia
  • Eugenia Casariego Artola, Development & Advocacy Coordinator at European Schoolnet, advocating for innovation in teaching and learning at the European level

Thanks to the Ministry of Education and ALL DIGITAL for their joint production.

Episode 4: The Importance of Teaching and Learning Computer Science

In this fourth episode of our podcast series, Dimitria Terzieva and Nadya Stankova from Secondary School “St. st. Cyril and Methodius” speak with:

  • Stela Yaneva,
  • Maria Kecheva,
  • Sefani Apostolova – students in Secondary School “St. st. Cyril and Methodius” and

Episode 5: Inclusive and Creative Informatics Learning through Minecraft Education

In this episode of the Digital First Podcast, we explore functional and inclusive learning in informatics through two classroom projects. We begin with a Minecraft Education lesson where students learn coding through building and collaboration, and continue with a digital storytelling project in Scratch, where code becomes a tool for creativity, choice, and expression. The episode highlights how functional learning, gamification, and student-centered design can make informatics accessible and meaningful for every learner.

Episode 6: Generational Digital Divide - Do We All Speak the Same Language

In this episode of the Digital First Podcast, students and digital experts explore how different generations communicate, learn, and express themselves in today’s digital world through the lens of Halliday’s language functions. The discussion opens important questions about digital communication, identity, creativity, learning, ethics, relationships, and the role of technology in everyday life.

Together with special guests dr. Emilija Stojmenova Duh, former Minister of Digital Transformation of Slovenia and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, and dr. Martin Marizdovšek, researcher at the Jožef Stefan Institute and consultant for AI, digitalisation and innovation policy, students discuss topics such as artificial intelligence, digital citizenship, online behaviour, creativity, misinformation, digital identity, and the future of communication.

Through authentic student voices and intergenerational dialogue, the episode highlights how digital technologies are transforming the ways we interact, learn, create, and understand the world around us, while also reminding us that meaningful communication and responsible digital participation remain shared responsibilities across generations.
